Hi group!
Did anyone get feedback on their lesson plans yet? Did it show up when you opened up your lesson plan on taskstream, because I don't see anything on mine. I thought that it would show up right on it? I am still contemplating on doing clouds for my movie maker looking at other options, but haven't found anything that interesting to put into a slide show.

Hi!
Hope your week went well! My lesson plan was on clouds which included the class splitting up into groups and working on researching a particular cloud that was assigned to them. Researching, creating a visual aide and presenting. In a nut shell. I've been looking for topics and branch offs for our inspiration map also, which is due on the 12th. If you have any questions or anything else, let me know! Have a nice weekend.

Hey girls! I just finished my lesson plan. I did the reason for seasons. I explained that by this point in the unit our class has started to work on their city project and has just picked a location and climate type. My lesson helps them understand the season's that their particular climate has. At the end they use a globe and a flashlight to demonstrate their reasoning to the class. This is also the opportunity to tell the class where their city is located.
let me know if you have any questions!

Reminder
Hey guys, just a reminder that my lesson will be focusing mainly on starting the students on their daily weather journals along with having them choose and research a city/state, of interest to them and present a power point on the current weather occurring there! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns let me know. : )

weather monitoring 1 2-10-10
Hi, this is geared towards katie's quest. I think that it would be good to include the Koppenhagen types and expecially the seasons. I also think it's important to do something on the heat index and wind chill, they could graph it daily to see how it changes, the wind chill has an impact on them because in the winter it determines if they get to go outside for recess or not. Along with those I think it might be good to do something on daily recording's on snowfall and rainfall, just a thought. I was also thinking that we should include storms to our concept map; what kinds, how they form, types of weather alerts, etc. I know our revision of our concept map is due I think something like March 12, I can do the next one, if that's ok.

I think our concept map looks really good. Under climate maybe we should have koppenhagen types and seasons. do you think that heat index and wind chill should be in our daily checks? or is that too advanced for our age group.
For our google doc assignment and google map assignment from today I had an idea on what the map could be used for. Looking at where the weather stations are, the students could see how where the weather stations are located affects the different readings. This could tie into lake effect snow for example.

Google Doc Assignment
Our class will be communicating a daily weather report through e-pals discussing to a fourth grade class in Florida. Our students would contact these students as we learn about the different climate types. Along with a description of that days "daily readings" they can discuss why the weather is different. These daily readings should include temperature, precipitation, dew point, humidity, and wind speed. The students can also discuss how the weather affects the activities they do after school and on the weekends. After communicating with the other students, our class could make a log of the weather in Florida according to their pen pal. After recording the information the students could write a short story that is set in Florida. They would include the weather and how it affects the lifestyle of the people there and how it is different than our weather here. The students will also be able to better understand why the weather is the way it is, even though it may be winter in Florida, and know the differences between Michigan and Florida winters, and the reasons behind them.

Weather Websites
Hey group! here are my websites that I found today in class if you want to check them out.
http://www.weatherwizkids.com/
http://asd-www.larc.nasa.gov/SCOOL/cldchart.html
http://squ1.org/files/wiki/climate/koeppen-map-large.gif
I think the first one is the best. It has a lot of great pictures and hands on activities as well. the cloud one has a lot of good pictures too. I thought maybe they could use this sight to see what kinds of clouds were in the sky on a particular day and see how they relate to the current and upcoming weather.

Concept Map
This is what we have been working on as far as brainstorming goes! I feel as though we are on a great track, and now am going to be focusing on some main points that will better help us to research websites. I think that finding easy, simply websites having to do with some of the basic points we brainstormed about so far will be helpful.
